Services

Here are some of the services that Susan’s providing to garden centers.

Helping garden centers start blogs and other social media

  • Work with your webmaster to set up blogging software of your choice as part of your website, and choosing the right options for it
  • If needed, recommend outstanding independent website designers and developers
  • Research and recommend outstanding gardenbloggers in your region to serve as your local blogger.  I recommend bloggers based on their success in garden blogging and networking and their ability to work as a team for your benefit
  • Find blog contributors among your own staff
  • Research and upload to your blog links to groups, people, websites and blogs in your region
  • If needed, help your marketing team set up a Facebook Fan Page, a Twitter account, Flickr, etc.

Writing, editing and managing garden center blogs

  • Provide regular blog stories, up to 2 per week, customized for your company and region.  They’re newly written and current (no repurposing of old articles).   Posts are customized for each garden-center client, as needed, to make sure they’re appropriate for the climate,  growing conditions, and products.  And garden centers are guaranteed exclusive publication of Susan’s stories within 50 miles of their locations.
  • Work with garden center staff to get their knowledge on the blog and in a form that attracts readers and search engines both
  • Network to find guest bloggers, either paid or unpaid, and get their contributions online
  • Work with marketing staff to plan and schedule blog stories, then publish them
  • Moderate or respond to blog comments
  • Help with on-going assessment of the success of garden center social marketing programs

Promoting garden center blogs and other social marketing tools

  • Promote the blog, Facebook and other social media tools at time of launch using social media, networking in the region, and by contacting the media (national and regional)
  • Recommend ways to promote your blog and social marketing program in-store, and via existing communications with customers

Bonus for clients of one year or more

  • Twenty-six information-packed articles about low-maintenance gardening,  mulch and compost, how to attract butterflies, and lots more meaty topics for publication on garden center websites – at no extra charge.  All 26 are listed here, with links to the full articles.
